BEFORE SAILING

Install, update and sign in on both adults' phones.

Link the reservation, allow notifications and confirm that each adult can access the itinerary before leaving home. Downloading the app at the terminal adds avoidable stress.

Once aboard, connect to the ship's guest Wi-Fi and reopen Navigator. Many onboard app functions work through that network without purchasing an internet package.

WHAT NAVIGATOR MANAGES

Use the app as the live source for the cruise day.

Navigator shows daily activities, dining times, menus, character appearances, youth-space information, maps, reminders, ship time and the family's onboard account. It also supports onboard chat and messages from youth spaces.

Mark favorites selectively. Too many reminders create noise and make it harder to see the activities that genuinely matter.

AVOID SURPRISE PHONE CHARGES

Use airplane mode, then turn Wi-Fi back on for the ship network.

Before the ship leaves port, place each phone in airplane mode, turn Wi-Fi back on and connect to DCL-GUEST for Navigator. Leave cellular data and roaming off unless the traveler intentionally uses a carrier cruise plan.

The core onboard Navigator functions do not require a paid internet package. Internet plans are separate purchases for broader web and app access.

KEY TO THE WORLD CARD

Keep every ship card secure and know what each child can charge.

Each traveler receives a Key to the World card. It identifies the Guest, opens the assigned stateroom, supports leaving and returning to the ship, shows dining and assembly information and can post approved purchases to the stateroom account.

Parents should deliberately set children's charging permissions. If a card is lost, contact Guest Services promptly so it can be replaced and the previous card disabled.

PHOTOS, SHOPPING AND THE FOLIO

The ship is cashless at the point of sale, but the charges are still real.

Optional purchases can include Port Adventures, specialty dining, spa services, internet, specialty drinks, alcohol, premium treats, theater concessions, merchandise, photos, laundry and medical care.

Review the folio in Navigator every day. Address an unfamiliar charge while onboard rather than discovering it after the account closes. Ship shops normally close while the vessel is in port and reopen after departure according to the daily schedule.

Standard dining and stateroom-host gratuities are normally added to the onboard account, and some purchases carry an automatic service charge. Review Disney's current gratuity guidance and the folio rather than relying on an older printed amount.

TURN THE GUIDE INTO YOUR PLAN

Install Navigator on both adult phones and decide each child's charging permissions before check-in.

I can help narrow the choices, keep the time-sensitive steps organized and explain what needs a decision now.
