Beach time, lunch and island transportation can already fill the day.
Castaway Cay includes Family Beach, walking paths, tram transportation, character appearances and lunch at Cookie's BBQ locations during scheduled hours. Pelican Plunge, Scuttle's Cove and the self-paced 5K can add structure without requiring a paid Port Adventure. Exact openings and activities vary with weather and operations.
The ship normally docks directly at the island, and trams connect the main guest areas. Always use the live gangway and tram information for the day.
A paid Port Adventure can add structure, but it is not required for the island to feel complete. Choose one only when the experience itself matters more than unstructured beach time.
Take only what the family will actually carry all day.
Carry the documents Disney identifies for the port and traveler; the ship's live going-ashore instructions control.
- Key to the World cards and adults' physical photo IDs
- Medication, sunscreen and a small first-aid pouch
- Water, hats and comfortable water-friendly shoes
- Phone, portable battery and a waterproof or wet bag
- The live all-aboard time and one agreed meeting point
Start together, separate only with a clear reunion plan.
Choose a home-base area, identify the nearest restrooms and lunch location, then let the morning stay flexible. If family members split for an activity or youth program, set a specific time and recognizable place to meet again.
Let the ship's live information override the plan.
Wind, rain, surf, medical needs and operational changes can alter activities or even the port call. Check Navigator and the gangway sign before leaving the ship and again before settling into the day.
