BEFORE THE FIRST MORNING

Make the phone familiar before the day gets busy.

Download the official Disneyland app, update it and sign in at home. Link your party’s admission and any Disney hotel reservation, then check the park reservations and dining plans. Make sure the adult managing ride selections can see the right travelers.

Practice finding maps, wait times, park hours, dining and your tickets. Allow useful notifications, and decide who will manage shared plans so two adults do not accidentally change the same reservation. Bring a charged power bank and a cable that actually fits your phone.

The app’s free planning features and the paid Lightning Lane products are different things. You do not need to buy a pass to use the map, check posted waits or browse dining. A paid pass also does not replace park admission or reservations.

WHAT EACH PASS DOES

Start with the rides you want—not the most expensive option.

Multi Pass provides one Lightning Lane entry per eligible attraction, per day, per pass, with reserved arrival windows. You may buy it ahead with eligible tickets, but Disneyland attraction selections start after park entry. Single Pass is purchased separately after entry for an individual high-demand attraction; it is not included in Multi Pass.

Premier Pass permits one visit to each available Lightning Lane attraction without choosing return windows. It has a limited advance purchase window, currently up to seven days ahead at 7 AM Pacific. Package ticket-delivery timing can affect access to that window, so confirm your booking’s details.

All passes cost extra, have limited availability and carry terms including nonrefundability. To use a pass across both parks, you also need appropriate Park Hopper admission. No pass guarantees every ride will operate or removes all waiting.

ONE NEXT STEP AT A TIME

Let the app tell you when you can choose again.

After entering, select an eligible attraction and its available window. With Multi Pass, the next selection opens after redeeming the previous one or after two hours have passed since making it. The app shows when you are eligible again.

Choose something your actual riders want and can ride. Check height restrictions, the return location and whether the time competes with lunch or a nap. A far-away reservation that leaves everyone tired may not improve the day even if it seems efficient on screen.

Before confirming, look at every selected traveler. If part of the family is not riding, avoid buying or reserving unnecessarily for them. When plans change, review modification options in the app; ask a Cast Member about a problem rather than assuming a missed window will be honored.

MAKE IT WORK FOR YOUR FAMILY

You can plan a thoughtful day with or without a pass.

Compare the eligible ride list with your family’s priorities, not with someone else’s claim that a purchase is essential. A group focused on thrill rides may value a different mix than a family spending much of the day on play areas, gentle attractions and character moments.

Set a comfortable optional-spending limit before the morning begins. Buying every available extra can make the budget feel reactive. If you skip paid access, keep the day flexible and expect standby waits; if you buy it, leave room for breaks rather than stacking a relentless ride schedule.

Disneyland’s selection timing differs from Walt Disney World. Do not set a Florida-style advance Multi Pass alarm for a California visit. Review the current official terms again just before traveling because products and included attractions can change.
